While there are many quality online degrees that may be taken from anywhere, there are a number of benefits to obtaining an education degree in your geographic region. In-state tuition can often lead to substantial savings. Many states have different requirements for teaching licensure, and in-region states often cater their curriculum to the licensing requirements of surrounding states. Support services, networking events, and practicum opportunities are also often tied to the physical location(s) of a school as well. Finally, the range of academic programs available on campus are often higher than those offered online. While you may still end up taking flexible online programming, it’s definitely worth considering educational opportunities based on the region you currently reside (or where you would like to reside in the future).
